About Us

Dreamy Deer Island is a fun-loving collective of poetic, distraught artists working between and across media.

Despite its humble roots as an unofficial indie comix club at Wesleyan University, the group continues to work together to produce and disseminate stories in a broad range of formats, budgets, and expected audiences.

We are invested in asteroids, After Effects, aphrodisiac, and A Tribe Called Quest.

Karen Xu

Karen Xu works in printmaking, comics, animation, and rap music under the alias and alter-ego xiaoneng915. On an average day, Karen gulps down 5 unsolicited jokes.

Eden Lanois

Eden Lanois is a Philadelphia-based digital artist working in sculpture and sound. Eden's work is heavily influenced by semiotics, playful ambiguity, paranoia, and the failed utopian possibilities of online identity. Eden is committed to showing work in alternative, experimental, and temporary venues online as well as facilitating new experiences for artists and their audiences. Eden Lanois performs as the digital hardcore artist Cheap Shiny Fringes.

Skye Gao is a Pittsburgh based game developer and illustrator. Skye's faithful pastel rubbings of extreme fetish pornography reveal the tender vulnerability of online sexuality and youthful eros. Skye is an M.E.T. candidate at Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center.

Cole Goco

Cole Goco is an accomplished, award-winning cartoonist from Arlington, Virginia. Drawing comics since his childhood, Cole went on to study Film & Biology and now works as an animator and illustrator. In addition to visual arts, he enjoys museums, marine biology, and going outside.
